Social Networking: A purposeful loss of privacy?

When we think of Social Networking this generation automatically think Facebook or twitter. Understanding that has been the shift from old media like newspapers and magazines. The biggest impact that Social Networking has had on the public is clear- its privacy.

Social Networking has impacted the privacy of anyone who decides to participate in it. Or has it? Social Networking can only distribute the information we provide it. With that said I think the privacy factor is in the hand of the users.

For my research project I will give supporting stories and evidence of my opinion and the actual facts on how social networking impact the privacy of the public people that choose to participate in this up and coming way of life and expressionism.

Check out this site that gives a little bit more information about where this idea is going---

  1. Social networking has raised up many concerns regarding privacy issues. There is a staus going around on facebook where it states the users right of their protection against the government taking thier photos, post and etc. I am not sure what it exactly said but i do remember serveral people posting it. I agree that it wouldn't be considered a privacy issue when social netowrks only distibute what you agree to put on; after all it is your site and you did post it. But at the same time these situation are very senstive. There are many cases where the user can get hacked and hacker posts certain private information that the user would not agree to. What happans then? I think privacy is a great topic to discuss the different ways in which social networking has affected society.
